Dodgers Losing

On September 16, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Definitely not staying up for a game that’s 11-1 Padres. At least today I found out how easy it is to make my own kettle corn. Wow, that’s good stuff, and easy when you have an oil popcorn popper.

Dodgers Winning

On September 15, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

I’m probably turning off the computer before the game’s over, but this is shaping pu to be a nice win for the Dodgers. Maddux didn’t give up a hit until the 6th inning, and despite Nomar straining his quadracep, the team’s sitting pretty with a 3-0 lead in the 8th.

That’ll Show Me

On September 15, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

So Jeff Kent swings at a 3-0 pitch, and Vin Scully points out that “they let him swing.” I think “Oh, big deal. Two out, nobody on, 0-0 game in the fourth. Who cares about a walk?”

Well, he walks on the 3-1 pitch that’s a ball, and promptly scores from first on a double to the center field wall. That’ll show me.

Update: and then the hext batter, Lugo, gets a hit to score Drew, on second from his double. Who cares about a walk? I wouldn’t want to say that to David Wells right now.

Go Bush!

On September 15, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

The bloodhounds of the press are after Reggie Bush now, and some people are already referring to his football heroics as ‘tainted’, as though getting his cut of the big business of college football is tantamount to cheating on or off the field.

Go Reggie Bush, I say! The NCAA is such a scam that I root for any player who makes money off his skill and effort.

A half game

On September 14, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

The Dodgers lead the Padres now by only a half game, having lost to the Cubs while the Padres beat the Red. They’re tied in the loss column.

This four game series starting tomorrow, Padres at Dodgers, should be fun.

Dodgers 6, Cubs 0

On September 13, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

It helps to get a shutout if you don’t want extra innings. It’s also nice to see this win because the Dodgers with it pull back into a tie for home field with the Cardinals, and remain a game and a half ahead of the Padres for the division.

There’s a lot of games left though, unfortunately.

Democrats on the War

On September 13, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Via Red State, take a look at this series of quotes by Democrats over at Free Republic. Once upon a time, the Democrats weren’t absolutely hopeless on the war.

I especially love this John Kerry quote:

Those who doubted whether Iraq or the world would be better off without Saddam Hussein, and those who believe today that we are not safer with his capture, don’t have the judgment to be President, or the credibility to be elected President.

Extra Innings

On September 12, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Why is it every time I turn on the Dodgers these days the game goes into extra innings?

Police Fundraising

On September 12, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

I hate government fundraising jobs. Says the Press-Enterprise:

A weekend sobriety checkpoint saw 185 drivers cited and 166 vehicles impounded, officials said.

In all, 2,454 vehicles passed through the checkpoint Friday, Sept. 8, before it ended at 10 p.m., according to the Moreno Valley Police Department. Most citations and vehicle impoundments involved drivers without licenses or those driving with a suspended one, officials said.

Nothing like stopping hundreds of people without any cause to suspect anything, admittedly doing far more than you claimed to be trying to do, and having no shame about it. But I bet all those citations raked in great cash for the city of Moreno Valley.

Five Years

NY WTC

Still fighting. Five years later, we’re still fighting. Imagine that.

At least we’re winning, and winning so well that we haven’t suffered any big attacks since. Who could have imagined that?
