Dodgers 5, Mets 6

On October 4, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Dumbest baserunning play I’ve ever seen. 0-0 game, nobody out, Kent on second, Drew on first. Martin doubles off the wall, Green throws home, and Lo Duca tags out first Kent, then Drew.

And the Dodgers lose by one. So many ex-Dodgers in this game, too: Green, Lo Duca, Mota all making notable plays.

EDIT: You can tell this loss was annoying, since I made two bad error in writing this post the first time.

Lies

On October 4, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

It amazes me how many people are just flat-out lying, or breathtakingly ignorant, about this whole Rep. Foley situation.

The radical left will lie as much as it takes to achieve the long term goal of overthrowing freedom in this country, and replacing it with stifling, totalitarian socialism. One must never forget that.

Double Whammy for Democrats

Oil drops below $60/barrel, AND the Dow Jones Industrial Average hits an all-time high.

It’s the economy, stupid?

I won! I won!

On October 2, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Fantasy football heads up just doesn’t feel fair sometimes. I started off 0-3 in the Red State league despite racking up 91 total points (by comparison, one person who’s 3-0 scored 76 total). But this week I matched up with the other 0-3 person, Macho Nachos himself. And I won, 38-29.

It doesn’t look like I’ll win the league, but we’ll see.

Anti-Semitic? Anti-Gay? Anti-American?

On October 2, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

We’ve often been told that the PLO and Hamas cannot possibly be ‘anti-semitic’ because their members are semitic, or that Democrats, Greens, and other leftists cannot possibly be anti-American because they are American!

It turns out that this logic apparently breaks down when Republicans are involved, though, judging by these comments found by PoliPundit’s Michael Illions:

“I first started to report on Foley in March 2003,” said [Michael] Rogers, who is gay. “The reason why – he’s antigay. He voted for the Defense of Marriage Act and has not renounced that vote. He refused to acknowledge that he supported the repeal of `don’t ask, don’t tell.’ He would not sign on as a co-sponsor. He should be held accountable for not supporting that or co-sponsoring.

Veeery interesting emphasis added.

And That’s It

On October 1, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

The Dodgers win, the Padres win, the Cardinals lose, and the Astros lose. The season is over.

Good effort from the Diamondbacks. They fell down 7-0, but came back and lost 7-6, losing at the end only on a CLOSE call that Bruce Bochy actually went out and argued to get flipped his way instead.

Next up: The Mets!

This is it!

On October 1, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

10:05am: Astros at Braves. 11:15am: Brewers at Cardinals. 1:05pm: Dodgers at Giants. 1:40pm: Padres at Diamondbacks.

Four teams, two divisons.

Dodgers 4, Giants 2

On September 30, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

And, the Dodgers are in the playoffs! Also, the Phillies are out despite their win because the Dodgers and Padres both won today.

The big story tomorrow for me will be the NL West championship. If the Padres win, they get it. If the Dodgers lose, the Padres get it, because the Padres hold the tiebreaker. But it’s not over until the games are played.

Of course others will be watching in Atlanta tonight. If the Astros can keep their 1-0 lead they now hold in the top of the second, they have the same chance to win the NL Central that the Dodgers have to win the NL West: a loss by the first place team and a win for themselves will do it. Though the Central is more precarious because the loser does not get the Wild Card!

Dodgers 4, Giants 3

On September 30, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Reading about the game now, since I was asleep, it looks like it was another great comeback. Coming from down 0-3 to winning 4-3, with the winning run coming on a wild pitch in the 9th inning, is not the easiest way to go.

Nomar’s playing hurt, and couldn’t even finish last night, apparently. Here’s hoping he can keep going through the playoffs.

Meanwhile the Padres finally lost, the Phillies won, the Astros lost, and the Cardinals won. So the NL Central’s about done with the Astros two back in the loss column, the NL West is tied, and the NL Wild Card could go to any of three teams, though the Phillies are two back. And that’s with two games to go. Exciting!

Another big night

On September 29, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

I’m going to bed early which means I’ll miss it all, but Padres/Diamondbacks, Dodgers/Giants, Brewers/Cardinals, Phillies/Marlins, and Astros/Braves are all playoff-significant games in the NL tonight. Wow.

Nima Jooyandeh facts.
