Lakers 111, Celtics 98

On February 1, 2007, in General, by Neil Stevens

Didn’t even try to watch the game, because I don’t feel like going through the hassle of guessing KCAL’s tape delay. But Kobe did come out firing, scored over 40, and got the Boston crowd cheering for him.

Red Auerbach would not be pleased.

Oh My Goodness

Senator Biden on Senator Obama (emphasis added by me):

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Oh my goodness, to use a phrase I’ve picked up from my brother.

Lakers 94, Knicks 99

Total garbage that the league refused to review Kobe’s suspension before the game to give him a chance to play if the original penalty was wrong.

Hopefully, to make the most of this, Kobe is now all the more rested for the rest of the road trip.

Garbage

On January 30, 2007, in General, by Neil Stevens

Kobe got suspended one game by the league for incidentally smacking Manu Ginobili in the face. He asked for an appeal in New York tonight, before the game against the Knicks, but apparently was denied.

Well, at least it’s only the Knicks on a tape-delayed game that I’ll probably miss because I have no idea when it’s going to be televised.

Must be nice having Robert Horry AND Michael Finley. Stupid Amnesty rule.

Red NBA?

On January 27, 2007, in General, by Neil Stevens

I love this bit from Mark Cuban on the All-Star voting, explaining why Tracy McGrady rode Yao Ming’s coattails to beat out Steve Nash:

The majority of NBA Internet traffic is international, and the majority of that international traffic has been trained to vote along party lines. You have to adjust to that. It’s an international vote, and a whole lot of communists voted. They always vote the party line.

Bobcats 105, Lakers 95 (OT)

What IS this? Come on. Season sweep by Charlotte? Luke Walton out with an ankle sprain the night Lamar Odom comes back? Come on.

SPF Activated

When I installed qmail from ports with SPF support, I thought it would just be turned on. Turns out it’s not on by default.

It’s on now, heh. Let’s see how this goes.

Petition in support of the President

On January 26, 2007, in General, by Neil Stevens

In light of select elected Republicans warming up to Democratic attempts to obstruct the President’s conduct of the war, there’s a petition going around to galvanize opposition to Republicans who do so, and to send the NRSC a message not to support those Republicans either.

For a couple of years now, Democrats have claimed that “the Generals want more troops, but the President isn’t listening.” Well, now that a new General is in charge in Iraq, and he’s asked for more troops, they can’t turn around and ask the President not to listen. Not without political consequences anyway, but every Republican who backs them undermines our attempts to highlight the calculated Democratic flip-flop.

So I’m in.

Odom

On January 24, 2007, in General, by Neil Stevens

Word is that Lamar Odom had a good practice and is ready to return! This is great. Some teams like the Spurs are talking about trading for an ‘impact player.’ The Lakers are getting one for free.
