Dianne Feinstein: Not Representing California

On November 15, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Reportedly, the San Francisco 49ers are looking to move from San Francisco to Santa Clara. That’s not a big deal.

What is a big deal is that according to the ESPN program Pardon The Interruption, Senator Feinstein intends to bring a bill up in the US Senate to prohibit the 49ers from keeping their team name after such a move.

Has the Senator forgotten that she represents California now, not just San Francisco? Disgusting.

Let me point out one more fact. The team name ’49ers’ refers of course to the California gold rush of 1849. Last I checked, Sutter’s Mill was not in San Francisco. So if any city deserves the name, it should be one in El Dorado County, not San Francisco County!
