Mets 9, Dodgers 5

On October 7, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

As I write this, it’s a 1-2 count with two outs on the potential final batter of the Dodgers’ season. Now it’s 2-2 with a runner on first to Ramon Martinez. Two foul balls keep the season alive.

My thoughts now turn to the positive: this is a young team. Several of these key players came up during the season to cover injuries to players like Mueller, Kent, Garciaparra, and Gagné. Others are older, like Saito, but still surprises.

This team has talent. Now it has postseason experience. Game over, as Shawn Green (who didn’t kill the Dodgers nearly as much as Paul Lo Duca, who appeared to be playing angry this series, and got BIG hits tonight).

Anyway, Some free agents like Garicaparra and Maddux may leave, but Kent who hit brilliantly is locked in, and the young guys will be back. This team has an upside next year.
