Space War!

On September 28, 2006, in General, by Neil Stevens

Nobody’s blowing up satellites yet, but apparently the Chicoms are taking the next step in anti-satellite surveillance. For years enemies of the US have tried to time major satellite orbits and schedule actions to avoid their watch, but now DefenseNews.com says China’s shooting lasers at them. The lasers are not to destroy them, since that’d require way too much energy to get through the air and too much focus to stay coherent through the distance. Instead, the idea is to disrupt the optics and blind us temporarily.

Ever since seeing Bubblegum Crisis, I love reading about land-space and space-land lasers, so I find this whole thing exciting.
