Moe Lane on entering Discworld

On April 9, 2009, in General, by Neil Stevens

Moe Lane unravels Discworld, which gives mes a clear shot at finding where to begin reading some Pratchett.

Hopefully I end up liking Pratchett’s books, heh. I’m definitely open to trying though, as the last author I ran into through Moe was Turtledove, which is enough said.

Child’s Pay 2

MoveOn once asked (link via Save the GOP) who would pay for the President’s deficit spending. Let’s ask again.

Kuato Lives

Kuato Lives

Via Gizmodo, they call this a “Peekaru,” but anybody can see it’s really just a way to do the Spartacus maneuver to cover for Kuato.

Update: Welcome, Moe Lane readers! File me under ‘frightening.’

Waldenbooks Closing

On March 27, 2009, in General, by Neil Stevens

We have two bookstores in Moreno Valley. Both are small, terrible mall bookstores. And now one is closing.

So… the vulture that I am, I went in and browsed their 40%-70% off sale. Picked up Tournament Poker for Advanced Players by David Sklansky, Foxtrotius Maximus by Bill Amend, and Opening Atlantis by Harry Turtledove. All 40% off.

Not bad, not bad

You just know that some people backed Obama.

An inventory of our recent foreign policy bungling

On March 22, 2009, in General, by Neil Stevens

After Erick’s latest, by my count President Obama and his administration have angered or humiliated us with Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and Iran.

Have I missed any?

Alvin Gentry > Scott Skiles

On March 22, 2009, in General, by Neil Stevens

Charlie Villanueva uses Twitter at halftime, talking about how he needs to play better in the second half, and comes out strong in the second half. Scott Skiles whines.

Shaquille O’Neal uses Twitter at halftime. Alvin Gentry says “As long as he gets 25 and 11, he can do whatever he wants. He can Twitter, Facebook, MySpace.”

One of these guys realizes he’s coaching in the NBA, and that he is the coach of professionals and adults, in a league where winning and losing are what count.

The other just seems to want to antagonize his players. See also Skiles antagonizing Ben Wallace over headbands when both were in Chicago.

xkcd dilemma

On March 20, 2009, in General, by Neil Stevens

Do I condemn this strip or not?

On one hand, I’m sick of the politics.

On the other hand, he’s right.

On the gripping hand, he’d never have posted this if it hadn’t been an all-Democratic stimulus.

Ogre Battle!

On March 2, 2009, in General, by Neil Stevens

And it doesn’t cost a fortune! Just your standard SNES game on the Wii VC!

My game backlog’s already huge enough, but I’d love to get the good ending on Ogre Battle.
