I no longer develop or even use most of the software in this section. Contact me if you need support or custom development of something here, or if you're interested in taking over development of something here. Arrangements can be made in either case.

Kit is an AOL Instant Messenger client for KDE.

As it was my first KDE or Unix application, Kit's code isn't the cleanest in the world. It's well-tested though, having been included in KDE since version 2.0. I started writing it in early 1999, and happily put it in Gaim's place on my desktop soon after.

Time passes, though. The reason I needed Kit or Gaim has unfortunately disappeared, leaving me no reason to put up with the frustrations of writing software for AOL. So, since Kit is a stable, mature application, my messaging efforts are now centered on Jabber, a messaging system superior to AIM in every way. In fact, I had planned to release a Jabber client under the name of Kit version 2, but as the Jabber client has grown two years overdue, Kit has surely grown to be depended upon by many (several?) KDE users. It would be unkind of me to simply replace an app they use every day, so I'm going to release the Jabber client under a different name: 光鷹 (Light Hawk).

If you still want to use AIM, as I still do, then Kit is your app.
