Simple media player for KDE

I no longer develop or even use most of the software in this section. Contact me if you need support or custom development of something here, or if you're interested in taking over development of something here. Arrangements can be made in either case.

Kaboodle is a simple KMedia (aRts) player for KDE, which can play standalone, or embedded in Konqueror. The embedded player should work for media embedded in khtml, too.

Kaboodle as a KPart also implements the KMediaPlayer interface for other applications to use.

Or, as described by Charles Samuels:

The quick-n-simple media player, Kaboodle (frequently known as Noatun's little brother) is in kdemultimedia now. Expect it in KDE 3.0. It doesn't support plugins, it has no playlist, or volume control. And that's why we like it. Hell, it's even based on Noatun code, so we like it even more. It's supposed to be used for stuff like playing a quick video or sound file, and not ruining your precious Noatun playlist [ed: link added]. It's also a testing ground for some of the newer features in aRts, like video-embedding support. Kaboodle is also a kpart, which means that it shows up in those annoying AOL pages with the background music.

Kaboodle 1.01 available now - Requires KDE 2.2.x. (For KDE 3, Kaboodle is already in kdemultimedia, so get it there)
